About Us
Honoring Resident Voices
A pioneer in Erie senior living, Springhill was founded in 1990 by local leaders in conjunction with Hamot Medical Center to meet the region’s need for a senior residential community. Erie’s first independent senior living community, Springhill was also the first accredited continuing care retirement community in western Pennsylvania.
Located just a few miles from Lake Erie, Springhill is beautifully situated on 45 wooded acres. Cozy and inviting, the campus features a winding path, pond, gazebo, butterfly garden, and beautiful landscaping. But our bucolic setting doesn’t mean giving up the conveniences of city living. We are just a short ride away from shopping, services, and attractions. At Springhill senior living community, you get the best of both worlds.
We draw inspiration from the residents who continually shape and enhance our community’s programs and spaces with their skills, talents, and passions. A Resident Council works with administration and department leaders to share input and collaborate on new offerings and initiatives that impact residents.
Springhill is designed to support aging better. With a philosophy of person-centered service, we actively seek input and feedback from residents, associates, and family members about how we can improve our offerings and operations.
Our Mission
As part of Asbury Communities, a leading not-for-profit system of continuing care retirement communities, Springhill shares a guiding principle to do all the good we can with integrity, transparency, and grace. Our Mission of exploring possibilities to live your best life is the driving force behind all that we do. Associates and residents are always seeking new ways to make a difference here and throughout the Erie, PA, community..
While Springhill shares Asbury’s Methodist heritage and values, we have intentionally evolved to be a community that welcomes and affirms people of all backgrounds, preferences, cultures, and beliefs, including those with no religious affiliation.
Our Financial Strength
Springhill is part of Asbury Communities, which is among the nation’s 20 largest not-for-profit continuing care retirement communities systems. With a focus on growing its Mission and ensuring financial sustainability for the long-term, Asbury makes strong reserves and sound operations a priority in these ways.
- Requiring an annual audit to review the system’s consolidated annual statements. See our Audited Consolidated Financial Statements and IRS Form 990 below.
- Seeking an annual review from Fitch Ratings to assess financial performance. Asbury Solomons is among a small percentage of CCRCs whose bonds are investment-grade, currently holding a BBB stable rate.
- Participating in a national EAGLE accreditation process, operated by Methodist Ministries Network. EAGLE measures faith-based health organizations on sound operations, financial stewardship, and a Mission-focused culture.
- As a not-for-profit, Springhill is owned by Asbury Atlantic, Inc., which is the provider and legal entity responsible for providing services to the residents of this community.
