Bethany Village: Over Half a Century of Service
Since the day it opened, Oct. 1, 1964, Bethany Village has been a leader in retirement living in central Pennsylvania for people age 55 plus. From its early days, Bethany Village has steadily expanded its array of service offerings to meet the needs of more people and serve them better.
The history of our campus has been one of continuous growth as the call for our engaging lifestyle grew. Plans for expansion began almost immediately, with the first 15 cottages approved for construction in 1967. Another 80 were completed during 1978, and Bethany Court opened in July 1992. In 1998, the community laid the groundwork for years of expansion, purchasing an additional 100 acres of land (formerly the Sheely Farm) across the road from the existing campus to create the West Campus.
Bethany Village began taking reservations for West Apartments in late 2000. The community grew steadily through the decade, opening the West Apartments, MapleWood Assisted Living and The Oaks Skilled Nursing during 2004. The latest round of expansion was concluded in 2008, with the opening of the West Cottages and Estate Homes.
The Asbury Difference
Bethany Village became part of the Asbury Communities system in January 2000, finding Asbury to be a provider that demonstrated the same Mission-driven focus, faith-based heritage, and commitment to redefining aging services. Bethany Village strives to promote wellness and an enriched retirement experience for those we serve. As an Asbury Community, our priorities and commitments lie firmly with the health and happiness of each of resident. That means exploring new opportunities to help the older adults we serve live their best possible lives.
