You Belong at Asbury
Welcoming LGBTQ+ Seniors and People of Diverse Backgrounds
While our heritage is based in the Methodist Church, Asbury has intentionally evolved to become a community for all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures.
It is our pledge to treat everyone with fairness, understanding, warmth, and respect. And it is our intention that Asbury will be a place where everyone can enjoy and freely celebrate who they are. In October 2018, Asbury Methodist Village earned Platinum certification from SAGECare, an LGBTQ+ accrediting body which fosters welcoming cultures for lesbian, gay, and transgender people with its partner organizations.
Our annual Celebration of Cultures has become a community highlight enjoyed by the hundreds of residents and associates who help plan and participate.
We are committed to empowering the residents and associates who live and work here to create an environment that does not tolerate racism or oppression towards another individual, and we are firmly committed to the delivery of services to all those who call Asbury home.
We recognize that everyone bears the responsibility to engage, learn, and debate different views and beliefs in a civil, robust manner, which includes understanding the assumptions and biases we all hold and realizing that the work toward inclusivity is never finished.
We cherish our diversity and believe it enhances the quality of life in our community, making us the best place to live, work, learn, and play.
